Default Shims Issue

Hi Guys,

Im looking for some advise. Was driving my 73 Vette teh other day when i heard something fall out. I stopped and checked it was a shim.

Is it still ok to drive the car, would it cause any damage, is it dangerous, or am i best not to?

Thanks Jesse. Is that something a mechanic has to do or can you take it to a wheel alignment place?

Howz the weather in Cali?

Shim from where? A arms have shims; trailing arms have shims; body mounts; radiator support.

What type of shim did you find?

Yes Sir; A lot of Alignment shops don't know Squat about replacing the trailing arm shims.
They want to bend the trailing arms to make them come out right. Take your car to a good frame shop, & have them do it right. The shim at the trailing arms have a carter key that should hold them from falling out. Sounds like someone has worked on this unit, that knows very little about them. Have a great day. Gene

Hopefully it's an extra one that was left sitting on the frame or elsewhere.

Trailing arm shims are held in place by a pin. If one dropped out, the others will soon if they are not all gone. Check into into...
