orig.side pipe covers

Need to know if original side pipe covers were alluminum or fiberglass?? On the C3'S Thanks

My recollection is that they were a pot metal . . . I never had them on my cars, so will defer to those with better knowledge or more accurate memory . . .

Hi,
The covers were a light weight pot metal (aluminium?) of some sort, and chrome plated. They mounted to fiberglass insulators which had a black finish. The chrome covers can't be used without the insulators.
The kicker is the option (pipes and covers) cost only $147.45!!!!!

You guys are awesome, I really enjoy this forum. Thanks for the answers So, I take it I don't need insulators with repro fiberglass covers?

Hi 70,
Right, no insulators.
You might want to check to see what mounting hardware (beyond the screws into the rocker) the fiberglass covers might need.
