I'm sorry I can't get a picture to post correctly, but there is one in this link. I think it is the last pic.

I did not have to modify the stick in any way. It just bolted in place.
Someone previously posted that there is a difference in B-body shifters with or without a console. That may be true, I think I have heard that before. I bought my stick used at the Mopar Nationals several years ago. The person I got it from said it was from a 71 or 72 Road Runner. Except for the parking lights, they are basically the same car. I did not think to ask if it came from a car with a console or not.

Hey Motorhead!
Was that '70 Cuda you show in the picture a real 340 6-pack AAR, as the side stripe shows? It has a Rallye Hood instead of the lift-off hood hood, so I was just wondering. When was that picture taken. I like the ET slots. I still have stacks of those wheels.

Only the 1970 Road Runner & Super Bee body types (B-bodies) had the really tall shifter. For 71 and up, it is much shorter.
I saw in a Mopar magazine recently that the handles are being reproduced. Not the shifter mechanisim, just the bolt-on stick. The prices seemed to be about the same as buying a used one at a swap meet.

Thanks to everyone who posted, you've been very helpful in helping me to make a decision and I've decided I will put a pistol grip shifter in my 79.
The only thing is my husband and I may choose to make my own rather than buying the one from Keisler for $285 and then possibly wanting to modify it. The keisler shifter has the 1/4" steel plate going though the handle and although the grips are carbon fiber that piece of metal joining the two will still be cold to the touch in the spring and fall. Hubby suggested we cut our own stick at the height I want and make a pistol grip tailored to my hand by filling a condom with body fill. I'll squeeze it until it gets hard (no jokes, please), remove the condom, add and sand away body fill until the grip feels just right, then we'll make a mold of it, fill it with fiberglass and bond it to the stick at the same time.

Be sure and post pics of the installation, when that project is ready. Good luck.
