I'm starting to put the guts back in my doors. I bought new gm felts, maybe I have the wrong year. Should there be a chrome strip on the top of it? The ones I took off were pretty ruff. Lol

Thanks
My outer felts where 2 piece. The trim is stainless and the felts clamped through the stainless piece.
I see the felt goes through the stainless peace. The felts that I have are one piece and have a chrome looking lip on them. I guess I should of said it's for a 1969 if that makes a difference.
I don't have the pics with me but will post later. In short, there is a separate metal trim piece along with the backing metal for the felt. The clips on the felt go through the metal piece (stainless, I think) and into the holes in the door. The metal trim piece also has a lip that hangs onto the fiberglass of the door. I don't think there are differences by year but there are differences for coupes and convertibles. Also, there is a huge difference in quality of reproductions from NOS like to hardly useable.
The outer wipes are the same for all 69-82 Corvette coupes, and 69-75 convertibles use there own (different) wipe. 68's are completely different than 69 ups.
There is a stainless belt molding attached to the door of all 69-82 Corvettes. The outer wipe mounts to this molding. The outer wipes do have a "chrome" bead along the top edge of them, so that when installed, the effect is to have wider bead or molding along the top of the door.
