Default adjusting door

I can't get my window adjusted properly and looking at the door, it sits a little low in the rear...maybe a 1/4" or so. It shuts properly and there is no sag in the hinge area as well as being nice and firm with no up or down play in the hinges. I assume when it was painted they did a poor job of reinstalling the doors.

I tried my AIMs to see the procedure to adjust the door but am not finding it in the book. If it is in the AIMs does anyone have a page number or somewhere else that I can see how to properly adjust this?

I know there are shims on the other side of the hinge but if I am correct, this is probably going to be adjusted on the portion of the hinge on the door side. The body wasn't removed and everything else seems lined up pretty well so I am thinking it probably isn't the shims on the body mount.

I want to read what I need to do before I go in blind and make the adjustment worse.
I can get a picture tomorrow if it is needed

Before adjusting or attempting to are you certain the pins and bushing's are good and tight?? Secondly could the door striker be pulling the door down on the latch, you say about quarter inch or does it close perfectly?????

How long have you had this issue,? You said you can't adjust the window.
Sometimes it's as easy as adjusting the door striker but you have to be sure that this is an issue.

Your correct those shim's are for body alignment, door-fender.

Do not leave your door striker in a loose non tighten position if trying to adjust, your door latch might not let go on a floating door striker, then you will have bigger problems.

Ok I will look at that. I've only had the car a couple of weeks.

Hi m,
Z06 is right about checking the striker.
But, be careful about using the striker to raise the door. You want the hinge ajustment to do that.
The door gaps and alignment sould be done with no striker in place. Once the door is where you want it, then put the striker in place and move it so that the door latches and unlatches easily. Using the striker to raise the rear of the door can lead to a latchng problem... not a good thing.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
