Just was on the C3 Registry website and noticed in my car's profile that the car's confirmed production date was confirmed by the NCRS Shipping Report Service. The confirmed date is Nov. 24/1967. This would be correct for my early '68 as D 24 is on the trim plate. My question - Is there more info that the NCRS would have on my car??? (like dealer that sold my car originally and in which state). I have never been able to track that down. I understand you have to be a member in order to obtain that info (then pay the $40.00 for the search). Do you think it would be worth my while to join the NCRS and then pay the $40.00 to have the search conducted??? I know some of the Forum members have had good results on getting that info on their cars. Your thoughts, please and thanks.

I'm a member and I would encourage you to join. With membership you'll receive the quarterly Corvette Restorer Magazine, 6 issues of the Driveline Magazine (in which you can post a free ad)....access to the NCRS Technical Board, the ability to participate in NCRS functions and much more. The Shipping Data Report gives you the GM official production date of your car, the original delivery dealer code and zone as well as the dealer name and address. All in all not a bad deal for a $35 membership.

Thanks gq82, I am thinking I will join. In regards to where my car was originally sold, my tank sticker shows zone 11 - dealer 023 but I could never determine where that dealership is/was and in what state. Joining NCRS might help me out here.
I'm also a member and think it is definitely worth joining. There is a lot of good information on their "forum" and in the driveline newsletter you receive for joining. I sent for the shipping report and was well worth the $40, as another piece of history or documentation for your car. Also the NCRS judging guide for 68-69s is an invaluable tool for researching the correct original parts and #s for your 68.
Hi bk3,
I encourage you to join the NCRS too.
The NCRS has been compiling dealers' zone and dealer numbers for many years. Everyone is encouraged to add to the base if they have information that's not presently there. You can do a search in the data base to see if yours is there.
I'm not sure if you need to be a member to do that or not.
GOOD LUCK!
Regards,
Alan
PS: I just looked.... I don't see yours listed. BUT, you MUST still join!
The NCRS Shipping Data you refer to usually includes the name and address of the original dealer. That information may or may not be helpful since it is possible the dealership is no longer in business, or, if still in business, no longer has recrods from forty year ago. It is also possible the NCRS does not have your VIN in their records.
Here's mine:
Jim Bodner Chevrolet is actually Jim Booher Chevrolet. Booher Chevrolet is now gone, but I remember it from back in the day. The address is currently a Mercedes dealership (Tafel Motors).
The Time/Build date of my car is Saturday, April 20th. As confirmed by the NCRS information, my car was considered completed and ready to sell on April 22. It did not necessarily leave St. Louis on the 22nd, but it did leave the assembly line that Monday.

OK- how did you get the 'shipping report service' without being a member? If you got the date, why didn't you get the name and address of the selling dealer?
Thanks guys for the input - much appreciated. I am definitely going to join the NCRS. The reason for the original question is that I had my '68 on the C3 Registry for quite awhile now and the other day I noticed that on the profile of my car it was UPDATED in regards to the production date. In brackets by the production date it states - AS CONFIRMED BY THE NCRS SHIPPING REPORT SERVICE. This makes me believe that my car's VIN is on file (???). You can check it out on the C3 Registry - s/n 5338. Really only one way to find out, I guess - join NCRS and pay the $40.00 to have the search done. Thanks again, guys. Have a great weekend

Hi Mike - I already knew the production date - D 24 on the trim tag. Just noticed the added " AS CONFIRMED BY THE NCRS SHIPPING REPORT SERVICE" narrative that was added to my '68 profile on the C3 Registry. I did not add the narrative. I sure would like to find out the dealership who sold this car new. Been trying to find that out for years with no success.

Damn, Mike - that's awesome - nice piece of paper to have. I am keeping my fingers crossed to be able to determine where my car was sold new.. All I know is ZONE 11 DEALER 023 Thanks again. BK3

I'm confused. Who's doing the updating on the C3 Registry and how would that person know which owners have received Shipping Data information?
Exactly, Mike - I am , too. I thought maybe someone on the Forum would know the answer to this - the mystery continues..... Thanks
I don't know if your car is on the Registry - if it is, just wondering if your profile was updated since you have the NCRS SHIPPING REPORT done. Thanks BK3

Spent a little more time on the Registery and randomly looked at other cars and found no other examples of this narrative being added in regards of the production date being confirmed by the "NCRS SHIPPING REPORT SERVICE "

The trim tag date is NOT the final production date in the majority of cases.
Is you car a GM Canada import? If so, George in Oshawa will have far more info on it than the NCRS.
Edit: You said the car is from Zone 11 which seems to be the Chicago area although dealer 023 does not show up.

It is true that the C3 registry is owned by the same person in the Netherlands who maintains the NCRS tech discussion board, but I doubt he would have added the info.
The mystery continues.
