Default Interior restoration begins

I've begun my work to restore the interior of my recently-acquired '69. I have removed the old carpeting, seats, console, kick panels and rear compartments will limited cursing and just a few skinned knuckles. I'm new to owning and restoring C3s and have a few questions:

1. Seats-I plan to replace the foam and covers. The original seats are fairly worn....how can I tell if they are leather or vinyl?

2. Seat belts-I have the retractable shoulder belts along with the lap belts. Of course the retractable belts don't operate correctly. Any recommendations on the best replacements?

3. Carpet-Any recommendations on the best supplier of replacement carpeting? How difficult is it to do install it myself?

One of the cool things about tearing down a car is what you may find. I found the jack apparatus in complete shape and what looks to be a very old can of BP Vanellus Super 30w motor oil....unopened.

Appreciate any comments....thanks.

'69 leather seats dont look anything like the vinyl. The leather is just that... leather... probably wrinkled and cracked. The Vinyl seats have what's called "Comfort weave" inserts, sort of a basketweave looking material thats different looking than the rest of the seat.

Also, if the car is original, look at the trim tag. The seats are coded by color and material. For example black leather is code 402 while black vinyl would be ZQ4 or STD.

Thanks...they are definitely leather based on the code info you provided and your description of vinyl seats....

This isn't a '69 (its a 70 or 71) but its an example of leather seats... consistent material, some wrinkling etc...
