Default New guy... Kinda

Hey Y'all, I'm Jon. I'm kinda new here. I joined nearly 4 years ago as I was planning to sell my fully restored Silver Anniversary Vette. But later as I found there really is no market it for them right now, especially being that the car is not worth half of what I am into it for. Therefore I decided to keep the car and just finish, after replacing everything with all OEM parts, no repro crap all I had left to do was the drive train. New paint, refinished wheels, all new bushings, all suspension, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings brakes, all lines, entire interior right down to rebuilding the quartz clock, por15 the entire frame, new fuel tank, repainted the emblems, all new glass. I mean everything, I didn't miss a step. Now on to the engine, I have yet to touch the original engine as it sits on a crate this very second, there is a mid '80s truck engine in it now that smokes like a Banshee. I recently came across GM's 290HP small block that somebody bought and put in there truck. The man said he had about 3,000 miles on the engine before the truck completely rotted to the ground. I picked up the truck for $400 and tore into the engine, the oil was still gold and he never did an oil change, not even any carbon build up on any of the piston tops. Like new!! By the looks of it there is not even 1,000 miles on it. So for Xmas this year my wish list came true. Waiting in my bedroom is Comp cams big mothr thumpr hydraulic roller cam kit with timing gears and lifters, Hooker headers/side pipes, Lunati 1.5 roller rockers and on the way are the RHS 64cc chamber 180cc runner cast heads, that will be milled .004 for a 9.5:1 cr. After that I will be ordering my pushrods, intake, carb, ignition, possible vacuum assist then the new turbo 350 ( most likely TCI along with a 2800 stall converter. Hopefully all to be in the car by spring :-) Thanks for wasting your time to read this

Good work Jon. Glad to hear you hung on to her and finished her right. You will love that new engine, especially with that cam. My '81 retains its stock short block but has a set of Summit heads, Edelbrock EFI cam, and Edelbrock Pro-Flo EFI. Now she runs how a Corvette really should. Keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for the warm welcome Jeff! Sounds like a nice ride. I will definitely keep everyone posted on the build. I'm sure at some point I may have some questions or pointers as well.

Looks great Jon but you're going to run out of room out there in a hurry with all that horsepower

Paul, there is no such thing as too much power, and if I do run out of room, I'll be making some trips over there, hopefully you will be seeing it at this years All wheels show at the Barnstable fairgrounds. Thanks for welcoming me in here. It's nice seeing someone from close by as well! I am also on the Dodge Ram SRT forums and I think I am 1 of 2 people in MA with that truck, gtg's suck hahahaha
