Each engineering change during a model year will have its own changeover point (S/N when the change occurs). There might be a few changes during a model year; they are not usually made at the same time. Most significant engineering changes are made with the model year change.
Quick observation = early had alarm key on fender and a cross flag emblem on both fenders. Later had alarm switched to door keyhole. And emblems removed except for nose and gas lid. Other differences underwood old A/C compressor vs. new style. Hope this helps a little.
Yours is a late model 77. As for "stingray" emblems no 77 was offered the stingray emblem, either cross flag emblem or none at all on fenders. 76 was the last year stingray was used.
My 77e has chrome mirror, alarm on fender, and no emblems on fenders.
I just purchased a 77, #....03572 (Sept. 13, 1976 build date). Early 77's had no flags on the fenders, just alarm key (I still would like to put a Stingray emblem on there even though they stopped in 76). Later they added the new cross flags to the fenders and moved the alarm key to the door. Some real early 77's still had chevy orange engines. They must changed faily soon in production to the corporate blue which is what I have on my L48. The chrome mirror was standard, dealer installed option for passenger side I believe. The sport mirrors were option code D35 for $36, 20,206 had them installed.

The switch to corporate blue occurred between August 23 and September 7th. Only about two weeks or so of production.
