You will definitely need the L88 hood for that one!

I had a friend ( R.I.P. ) who was a diesel mechanic and he would tell me of some engines that he could actually stand up with his torso in the cylinder, and how amazing it was that things were that gigantic and actually ran. Peace,,, moosie

Either that or a power plant's generator engine. My Dad told me he worked at a power station (dad was 40 years in the telephone industry) that had a diesel engine you could walk through. It was three stories high. It had two starters. One turbine engine and the back up starter was ...get this, ...a 440 Chrysler!

There are some big diesel engines out there. This crankshaft is for a diesel engine in a transport ship. And the engine itself is supposedly the largest in the world.

I'd hate to pay for an oil change. How many quarts do you suppose it takes? One and a half tanker trucks?

I've seen engines near that size used for compressing pipeline natural gas.

Uberlegend has it, looks like a pipeline motor to me.
My pop used to sell the fuel-gas expanders for these monsters. When you're 8 years old, these thing look REALLY big!

I work for our local NG company. Thats whats used to drive compressors
to push the NG from the field to your home. I've seen bigger, I've seen smaller. Bigger ones run at 330 rpm. Smaller 800 rpm . Smaller yet 1200rpm.

I think that engine is either...

1) a generator for all those electric cars to plug in to so they can save the planet; or...

2) a backup generator for Al Gore's house...after all...it is painted green!
