I have seen the threads about the aftermarket ones not matching up and not have the same fit as the originals. How do you tell original from aftermarket. Mine are beat up a bit and I am going to look at a pair this weekend that are advertised as original 72s which is what my car is. Any specific parts numbers or anything you guy can point out to help?
Hi Sully,
For 70-72 cars it's easy.
The original panels had a tab for an extra screw at the bottom front. The newer production panels, the service replacements, and the aftermarket, don't have the tab.
In addition, as Tom points out in his picture in his thread, the arc of the panel below the body line is different on the aftermarket panels.
Regards,
Alan
The tab doesn't matter to anyone but those having their 70-72 judged for originality.
