I am redoing the interior of my 69, it is all out with the exception of the shoulder retractable seatbealt. I have not been able to find any info on how to remove them and I do not want to brake them by guessing my way around. So any and all help is welcome and appretiated.
You have to pull the flexible boot off the buckle. Then the buckle will feed back through the seat.
To remove the boot: Heat a big mug of water in your microwave to near boiling; stick the boot/buckle in the mug and wait for about 30 seconds; wearing a glove, pull/wiggle the boot off.
Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The shoulder belt retractors bolt to the wheel houses. View B. You can slip the belts out of the guides on the seat back.
Thanks guys for the tips. very helpfull. Yes I have the assembly instruction book, but how do you uncover the insides of the seatbeal mechanism? Just pull it out or is it screwed in there somehow?
You disassemble half of the interior panels in the car. To get at them to remove the upper panels around the window release latches, the cross-bar trim under the window, and the rear quarter panels (which require removal of the outer/rear door trim molding strips). You may also need to remove the door sill plates. Just use the AIM to work from the install of the seatbelt retractor to the completion of the interior...then work backwards to un-install.
