That's the 'new' formula's number.

51613 seems to be all I can get nowadays (even through industrial sources), it's available at the local auto/hardware place.

The Krylon 1613 is still available. MSC Industrial Supply has 2456 cans in stock and I set up a C3 Corvette Forum price of $3.92 per can. Several members have purchased and I can set up anybody that wants to purchase.

Also, I believe the bezels through the 76 model year have 'real' chrome plating.

The old 1613 that's being sold to 'industrial' users (and on line) is very different than the 51613 that's in retail stores now.
Hi Alan,

Can is "Satin" with #1613 UPC code. I'm not home right now but will scrutenize it when I do get there. I was quite suprised but the local guy does have some crazy stuff that you can't find elsewhere. Geeze, I hope I got the right stuff cause it's all painted now

Getting ready

Krylon primer

Finish coat (yea, I know there was a masking screw up by the "1" but I will attend to it)

ps. if it is the "right stuff," maybe I'll pick up the remaining 2 cans on the shelf

Nice job TwinRay Part of replacing my wiring harness project is painting all of the panels and replacing the glass {plastic} on the gauges, tach and speedo. I suspect you used standard masking tape on the chrome edges, but how did you work around the raised lettering on the radio section of the panel and on the Fiberoptics panel? Those are the areas Im afraid of screwing up the most in terms of messing up the chrome

I used "standard" masking tape 1' wide - it happened to be Scotch brand. I put it over the complete word and then used used a razor blade to cut out the block. I didn't do each letter. Use a "fresh" blade. I take my masking tape off before the paint completly cures. Masking took probably 3 hours total. You can detect (slightly, I hope) that the area masked is in the "old paint." It probably won't be visable when installed and viewed from a few feet.

I replaced my speed and tach gauges with 5" autometer gauges which eliminated the lens used with the oem gauges. I'm using the lens with my accessory gauge panel - when I called, they said the ones available now are "wavy" so I figured I'd be better off with the original one since it's in pretty good shape - and not "wavy".

I didn't look close enough. I only eyeballed the UPC and didn't notice the other # above it.
How is it "very different?"

I wasted alot of time cause I didn't have pin striping tape. Get that and you won't have to razor blade the 1" tape when you cover the "chrome." I did it at night after the stores were closed and wanted it ready for the morning. Yup, masking takes a lot of time done right.

Oddly, a half hour after I sprayed with SEM trim black, I just used my finger nail to carefully scrpae the letters... Taping seemed like too much work. I needed a razor blade for 2 or three small stubborn areas and just went slow. Good luck.

I left the outer edge covered black... I think I like it better that way.
