ok so i have been saying for a while that i am repainting the vette yellow in april. the more i think about it the more i just don't want yellow i want something different something you don't see on a late c3. i know that the factory yellow is the most uncommon or
(wait for it...rarest!! ) of the 79s but its still not what i think i want. i want it to stand out an pop a little but not in a bad corvette summer car kind of way. i am gonna go regal turquoise metallic like the 58 verts. almost no one is putting that color on their c3 or at least i have yet to see one. i know some of you might think there is a good reason for this but i don't mind that just wanting to know if anyone has a pic of a well done regal or regular turquoise c3 an what you guys think good idea, bad idea? i know it hurts the value of the car but lets get real the 79 is never gonna be rare or worth what a 68-73 is so i might as well enjoy it the way i want it..right? RIGHT!

I didn't like Yellow either, but bought one anyway because of the deal I got. Now after a few weeks, I've really grown to like it a lot. It looks better to me each day.
Personally, to me it,s out of its time frame for the C3's but maybe you can picture it in your mind better than I can. You have probably always been told when growing up, as we age we get less tolerable, that's me. I personally don't even like the larger wheels and new tires on a C3. Just seems out of place. But with that being said, everybody likes a C3 no matter what.
if your new color choice works with your interior color - go 4 it.
BUT also be aware you're probably going to have to live with it for many yrs so be sure!
I'm not a fan of yellow either. I bought an Elkhart green 72, and truthfully not a real fan of that color either. I like green, but I may change the shading a bit to make it pop a bit more.
Your color sounds different, maybe you can photoshop your car in the new color to see how it will look. And as for keeping it the original yellow, that's nonsense. Make it how you want it to look.
There was a forum member that had a late C3 that was lowered with big wheels that painted his car a light shade of turquoise. Can't remember his name and have not seen his avatar in a while. The car was pretty cool looking.
here is a 58 with the color
i am pretty sure the decision is made for this to be the color by the wife lol
but she is open to others if i can show here a good example but keep in mind this is a diy job in a garage
what do you guys think ? this is the color in question

I'm only saying this because you asked, twice, for opinions.
I don't see the value in offering "it's your car" again.
I think it would look really, really awful on a '79. And no offense to your wife, but it looks like a color a girl would choose.
I love Regal T... on cars from that era. They look right. But on a '79, I vote a resounding no- and that has nothing to do with my preference for stock colors. I'd pick almost any color for your car over RT.
And even if I didn't think it looked hideous, I'm pretty positive I'd get very sick of the color in no time.
If it were me and those being the only 2 choices, I would go with the blue on the chevelle. Because I like that color blue. But again, the only person it has to please is you.
I saw an atomic orange painted C4. I did not think that it worked on that car. It works on the C6 and is one of my favorite colors, next to magnetic red. Like I say try photo shopping a picture of your car in different colors. One caution, if you are garage painting it and don't have a lot of experience doing bodywork find a color that is easy to paint and may help hide less than perfect bodywork. In other words stay away from a candy apple anything, or black.
that is a very to the point explanation of why you don't like it an that is what i was looking for one way or the other if you like it awesome if you hate it why
an yes it is something a girl "did" choose but if this is her ticket into loving the car then i will put up with it to get my enjoyment out of it
any way to make up for the color with white stripes or does that just sound more bubbatastic
i get the feeling you guys all see rtm will make my 79 look like this
Don't like it. Looks like a chick car. Does not fit the car. At least your wife did not select pink.
Black is always nice.
I guess that is why I like it but I am a chick! I'm not a big fan of yellow cars...but yellow vettes are purrrrrty :-) but it's your car paint it what you want! Post some photos when you do so we can see :-)
