Wheel size fit - backspace ?
I am looking to get 17 x 8 wheels. The factory backspace was 4" from what I have read but the wheels I want are 4.25" (-5 offset)
So that will push the wheel back in about 1/4 inch.
Anyone run one with 4.25 instead of 4.00? Any rubbing or other issues?
About to order and don't want to get something that will not work.
Will also probably run a 245/45-17 tire.
Thanks

I have 4.1 backspace with 255/50-17 tires in the rear. They bulge out from the 17x8" rims and I have plenty of clearance. I have 245/45-17 on the front with no issues what so ever. I am guessing that the extra .15" of backspace is less than the tire bulge I have with the 255's. You might need to tie wrap your parking brake cable in close to the trailing arm but should not be a problem. I bought 1 wheel to check caliper clearance. When that was ok I mounted the 255/50 to check for rubbing. My thought was it is cheaper to send back one wheel than 4. The caliper clearance was my biggest concern as I could change tire size to fit.

Yea after searching and reading a lot of threads seems the only hold up would be the brake cable in the rear, even then its minor from what I have seen.
I see plenty others also running the 255/50 but I like to stick to the same front and rear as not only are the 245/45 more common and cheaper but also allows easier rotating on tires.

Not suggesting a different tire but suggesting/thinking that my slightly wider tire will simulate the additional backspace you have when considering trailing arm clearance.
I know some wheels out there will not clear the calipers without spacers and that was why I mentioned that. If you need a spacer you might want even more backspace.

I run a 17x8 w/4" BS in front and a 18x9.5 w/5" BS in the rear. No clearance issues on either end - but my 245/45/17 tire in the front comes very close to the frame. I don't think I could run a 17x8 w/4.25" BS without some rubbing. Best thing to do is measure - at least twice. Also consider a tire that fits the wheel from a width perspective. Too wide a tire may cause an issue as well.
