Looks beautiful, listen to these guys in the forum they know their stuff. I agree about not taking it to the dealer and I agree some dealers would be qualified. My local dealer just does not happen to be one! The interior looks new compared to my 1979 that I just purchased two weeks ago for $5500 but since 1979 was the worst year right?!? LOL still can't believe someone said that to me geez.
Welcome to the forum! and good luck to you on finding your vette.

When I said don't take it to a dealer I thought we were talking about a Chev. dealership. Where I live there are no "dealerships" that deal in vettes or collector cars with knowledgable staff & mechanics- that's a different story & I would agree that an inspection from such a shop might be advantageous. Just don't go to a Chev. dealership unless you know they have some "older" mechanic who scraped his knuckles on early Chevies & is having to work well past retirement age. To the vette dealerships- I apologize.

Looks like a nice car. Kentucky plate to boot!! There was no clear coat on the 80 models. They were all acrylic lacquer. If you find clear coat, you might be looking at a repaint.

It all depends on what dealer he is talking about...if he lived in Atlanta and took the car to Buyavette... then he would be doing a very smart thing. They do the inspection with you, go all through the car and tell you what is right and what is wrong. They specialize in all Corvettes. So if he has a place like that in his area I think he would be smart to take the car there
I agree - my initial comment about not going to a "dealer" for an inspection was meaning not to go to a "Chevrolet" dealer which is what I assumed the OP meant.

Ugh - when I bought mine, I hardly looked at it! I was so overcome with lust! Anyways, I was lucky to find out that it was in pretty good shape. You are doing a lot of homework, which is good. This forum is great.

Looks good but is that damage under the right head light cover? May just be shadows.
