I have never sent anything away to be re-chromed, so I need a little help. The left chrome bumper on my '73 coupe needs to be re-dipped, but the right bumper does not. If I just have the left one re-chromed will it look better than the other? Or will there not be a noticeable difference? Thanks!
thanks for the picture! I love the yellow, too. And it's pretty much as close to perfect as you can get. I've been told they put the chrome on a little thicker now-a-days so I wasn't sure. I would hate to end up just sending one off and putting it back on just to make the other look terrible!
They are not cheap, but they do amazing work. They rescued my front bumper that a local shop had ruined. Waves and deep scratches all over. Worst part was they ran the leading edge against a belt sander and flattened it. Librandi charged $325 and it came back absolutely perfect.
$300 for a pair is a deal. Where did you get them done? Would you recommend them? thanks,
United Bumper Exchange, Shreveport, Louisiana. The body shop that painted my car uses them, maybe they gave the body shop a good deal because he uses them often. Tell them Hester's body shop recommended them, maybe they'll give you the same deal Yeah, I'd recommend them, chrome looks great!
They also did my t-top chrome and polished the stainless.

Just a small point, back when our cars were rolling down the assembly line, most all of the chrome pieces were "flash chromed" a two bath process that looked...good enough. Most platers today use a three bath process (copper, nickel and then chrome....I think), and may not do the flash chrome process that your original bumper still has on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a chance of a different tint by doing just one bumper? I know chrome should be chrome but I seem to remember another thread where there was a slight yellow tint that was not noticeable until it was matched with another piece. Maybe that tinted piece was not done properly but it just seems to stand out as a concern in the past. I could be wrong. Maybe it was a repro part next to a production part.
