Default Rear end differences

Can anybody explain the differences between the c3's and c4's rear ends? Also, I know the early to 1979 were iron and after that came the aluminum type but how do these stack up to the d36 and 44? Thanks Mike

The aluminum rears were Dana 33s and 44s. If memory serves, the iron units are Eatons.

Thanks for the info. Out of that list, which would handle more power? Thanks again Mike

The 71-79 is the strongest in stock form and can be built up to handle almost anything. The weakest will be the D36. The 80-82 can be built up to handle quite a bit but is limited to mods. What are you trying to build and what year?
