Got my from Zip many many many years ago.
They still provide good service. Just don't forget your key.
Just curious but does that vented cap have a gasket in it, or is it just metal on metal when on the filler? Reason I ask is because the Ecklers one looks identical but says for vented tanks just to not used the gasket.

The vented cap has a small vent hole in the top and uses a gasket. The unvented will have a smooth chrome top with only the key hole on top.
Seems to me if you were to try and use the cap with no gasket, you better not fill up your tank!!!
Yeah I dont think shooting someone over a few gallons of gas is going to look good in court.... Just sayin..... You can have the gas just dont scratch the car.
in Florida we have a "stand your ground" criteria but since I doubt stealing gas qualifies as being in "fear of your life" (a key element for reaction), your best shot is the protection a lock can get you. I did have a locking cap on my 78, but it gave out after about 5 years and now I have a standard OEM type (I do have an NOS gold colored cap, but rarely use it). fortunately never hard an issue.
I still have the original vented cap on my 69 The car came with a locking cap with the briggs key and the original one looks like it is new because of the condition.
I was told during judging that it should have a paper gasket, but there is nothing left of it.
