Default Quick paint body trim question

If I take the chrome trim T-Top stricker stop plate of. The one with the two screws and triangle bolt. Will I loose the backing plate in the car forever or dose it have a retainer on it from the inside?

Thanks

You should not loose the captive plate, however it can move around a lot and you can "lose" the hole. You have to remove the triangle bolt first and then I suggest breaking one bolt loose and leaving it in and then breaking the other one loose before you remove one. I would put something like another bolt back in after you remove the first bolt to hold the inside plate in place. I made the mistake of completely removing the top bolt and then trying to break loose the bottom bolt and the whole plate turned inside of the pillar and broke something loose inside. I had a heck of a time using a small screwdriver to coax it back into position.

Remove one of the screws and just loosen the other. Then, rotate the triangle plate gizmo so that you can put the removed screw back in the threaded hole. Then you can remove the other screw.

That will assure you that the inside plate will NOT fall off. {Just makin' sure....}
