I have an original expansion tank with date 80M on it.
Can I presume thats a Dec 80 tank? I own C2s and its been 40 years since I owned a C3 and for the life of me, cannot remember if they used the same style Expansion tank as the C2s? Whats it worth? I just paid $80 for a 63 so have no use for this one.
Its a replacement C2 tank purchased at a dealership across the counter. Replacement parts like this were commonly dated at the time of purchase, making people who bought the cars years later totally confused at the weird dates.

IT WORKED because I am totally confused
So C3s never had this tank? I sort of thought that was the case because I honestly did not remember one on my 70-72?
So If I hit this with a hammer enough times it would make a good/average door shim?
Hi,
I had no idea that the tanks were dated at the dealer; I always thought it was done at the time of manufacture.
Regards,
Alan
I didnt mean that the dealer dated it- my point was it was dated when built, and it was on there when purchased at the dealer, which was usually around the same time frame.
Poorly worded by me.
I had a 63 that I was going through years ago which came with a ton of old slides from a resto done in 1976... I noticed the overflow (just like this one) was dated 1976, which made my head explode.
Well then, this tank may be a collectors item because it was made for a 1980 that never had one like this. Thats like printing a one dollar bill with$5.00 printed on the back.
