Default LS1 in '73 vette

Will an LS1 fit into a '73? Would the flywheel & bell housing bolt on?

Yes it will physically fit in the car, but it is not a bolt in type of a proposition by any means.

There are many LSx swap threads, do a search for details.

I had a C5 LS1 car, and quite honsetly, really didn't see much of anything special about it. If going through all the trouble of a swap, would really go LS2 of 3. My current car's a C6 LS7. Now that one's pretty special.

Do your research on LS swaps, They are a little more involved than just a simple motor swap, and you will spend more money than you originally planned to. Ask yourself why you want to do an LS swap and will it be worth your time and efforts for the result you're looking to achieve.

That looks great.
I'm thinking it might not be worth the cost to me.
Would a bolt on EFI or MPI be worth the cost, in terms of power and fuel economy?
I'm building this as a cruiser not a dragster; Kiesler 5 speed & 3.08 rear end.

I put on a Mass Flo in my car a few years ago. It was a great system and much less install time than the LS3 I am doing now. It was not cheap and did require a good amount of work but it was a great addition. Car ran great. I just got the itch for an LS motor so Isold the whole engine and fuel system to a forum member. He is installing it now. The LS motor is a whole nother can of worms. You can see my long post in the C3 tech section. I have documented most of it there.

Default 73 with ls1

Hey,thats my old beater73.The ls1 has been in for 6 years and it has a 4l60 trans.I would like to have a 6 speed but I am 6 foot 4 and using the clutch with long legs is kind of ruff. When I did the swap the ls1 was cheaper than ls3 and besides it is 135 more horses than my stock l48.Do the swap you won't be sorry. Charlie
