Default couple interior questions

got my interior gutted and was wondering, what is the roof of the rear bay behind the seats suppoed to covered with on a 73? is it open to the body, or am i missing something? mine actually has a piece of galvanized sheet metal flappin around..pix appreciated...ill go grab a couple of mine

also, the doors for my rear storage areas are good, but dnag i cant get the old carpet off. when i scrape or cut it only small pieces come loose. is there anything that will loosen up the nearly 40 year old glue?

thx!

The brown in the second photo looks like stock bare fiberglass. I have no idea where your galvanized material has ocme from. The AIM shows what is and is not supposed to be there.

here is what it should look like....

Seriously there is not any metal where yours is......I did put dynamat up there before mounting my speakers and amp......It really helps with the outside noise.....

You need to be sure and check your plenum tubes and replace them if they need it...

I have done a LOT of work on my wifes 73 you can see the work on this thread... Some before and after pics...not quite done.
Be happy to help anyway I can.....

The Astro-Vent area probably rusted out and was leaking into the back area....so "Bubba" stuck a piece of galvanized in there to catch it????

Is there any way for water to run OUT of the car in that area?

What color is your carpet? I have all three pieces of carpet for you if you want them. They are new unused, I got a whole new compartment when I re did my interior. It is black 80/20 loop. Free of charge, just pay the shipping. Let me know.

Yes it runs down to the storage compartments and can drain out there.......but first it must soak your carpet pad and ruin the hinges or your storage doors.........

I was just kidding.....wanted to keep it looking original is why I hid the components back there....
Our car is original and there was nothing back there....I don't have a pic of that area before I dynamated it....but, it was just fiberglass.......

Is this the three pieces covering the storage compartments?
