Default 1972 corvette turn signal switch problem

I recently had to put a new turn signal in my 72 vette and got it put in then went to plug it in and the connectors did not fit together. I found out that there were two different connectors made and i think i got the newer one. So what i need to know is how do i get the connector to fit, or do i have to buy a different one?

Jim Shea may chime in on this, but you can remove the wires from the old and new connectors carefully with a small screwdriver and plug the wires from the new harness into the old connector.

Rick B.
So the wires are all in the same place, just a different sized connector?

If I don't hold mine with a little pressure turning right, the wipers come on.but I don't sweat the small stuff

It has been reported that sometimes if you have a new turn signal switch, the new switch connector may not snap onto the original wiring connector in your vehicle. It will be close but still will not snap correctly. If you have this problem, take the connector from your original switch and swap it onto the wires of your new switch.

Use the wire from a heavy paper clip and insert it into the "harmonica" connector from the contact side to disengage each wire and contact. There should be a small molded square channel in the connector that will guide you to a metal tang on the contact that holds it in place. Once you depress the tang and pop the wire and contact out of the connector, you should take a small knife blade and bend the tang back out so that it will engage the old connector correctly. Make sure you install the wires in the correct order. The wiring order is the same for all C3 harmonica connectors regardless of year.
