I just ordered Timken bearings and seals for my '72. I got seals and bearings for all 4 wheels for $116.30 shipped priority mail. This was less than half of what my local dealer was charging. They appear to have several other parts (Moog) for much less than what I have been paying from the regular Vette sites. Has anyone dealt with these guys and have an opinion on them?
Rock Auto rocks, man! Cheap prices, awesome selection, great service, the website is easy to use, too, I like that. I thought everybody knew about Rock Auto, man, if ya haven't, ya better get wise, they'll save you some do, re, me!!!!
Second that for Rock Auto!! Prices are good and they ship fast..One of the few places that will ship USPS to Hawaii saving me a bundle..Seen the costs for shipping lately.

I can only imagine, man! Isn't Hawaii like, half-way to Australia from here?
7500 miles LA to Sydney...LA to Kona,Hi 2504 miles.Only about 1/3 the way LA to Sydney....
Living on an island has its drawbacks. Can only drive in circles one big circle...
I have used them for a couple years now. They are the schnitz. Corvette park brake cable- minimum $35 everywhere else...$16 at Rock Auto. I called them just to be sure, they sad "yup, that's the real price"! Two days later I had my cable, perfect fit. A rare bright spot in a depressing world!
You just need to watch out for their shipping charges. I was all set to order some parts and when it came to checkout time, the shipping was almost $50 on a $100 order. Turns out the parts I needed were being shipped from 4 different locations around the country so they charged me shipping from each location. They are great if everything comes from only one warehouse.
What I like about Rock Auto is they have great search tools, and they list the GM part numbers and pretty detailed info. Sometimes you can find parts that are being discontinued for a great deal too. I agree too that the shipping can really get out of control.
I've been buying more and more from Amazon.com. They have great shipping prices (free sometimes).

Buy parts from them all the time, never a problem. Comparison shop including shipping, especially on heavy parts like rotors. I find my local NAPA is a better deal with my AAA discount. Watch the 30 day return policy if you're not installing right away.

I ordered all the parts needed for a front end rebuild from RockAuto. They had the best prices, but I was very disappointed with the accuracy of their order, and even more disappointed with their customer service. All parts arrived in a single shipment, but with some incorrect parts and some missing hardware. It took several phone calls over a three week period to convince them there was a problem, and two replacement shipments to get it right. I ended up re-buying half the parts locally and returning the RockAuto parts just to get the car back on the road in a timely manner. It sounds like I am the exception, but I will not buy from them again. The hassles in getting the right parts is not worth the few dollars saved.

Their shipping charges have gotten less user friendly - especially when the parts come from different warehouses. They use to have it that if you shipped to a business address the shipping was a bit cheaper but that option has gone away.

I also find myself checking amazon before ordering from other suppliers. When I finally decided on a clutch for the 72, jegs.com had the lowest price. All the big corvette sites had the same part, but $20-$30 more. I typed in the part number at Amazon.com search and found the thing for $145 cheaper. With free shipping. So I ordered it on a tues about noon. The next day it was delivered. I was stunned. And 1 happy camper.
You have to keep an eye on the shipping charges, but have never had an issue with them.If I lived on the mainland(Vancouver),I would likely never buy a part in Canada again, for example for my truck,a $30 door handle locally was $9,$89 pitman arm was $12,makes the minor hassle of walking across the border well worth it.
Only bought once from Rock Auto but was very pleased with the deal. I bought some repair panels for another project I'm working on and they had the best deal by far. I got a better deal through them than I could work going straight through the manufacturer! Shipping in my case was very reasonable and these panels were big! It turns out they were drop shipped from the manufacturer which is located just an hour drive from me. Buying from Rock Auto was still much cheaper even if I'd have driven and picked up the panels myself.
I'd give a for Amazon as well. I received an award for a project I did at work and Amazon was one of the places that I could select from for a gift card. I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to do with it. Then one day, I saw the disc brake conversion stuff I wanted listed on Amazon for about 1/2 of what everyone else wanted for this same package with no core charges and free shipping too! No brainer! I ordered and received my stuff in 3 days. I was made a very happy camper with that deal and now always consider buying from them when I'm looking at a sizable car parts purchase.
I just tried them this week, good prices and fast shipping. Shipping seams to be about the same as others.
I deliver for FEDEX Home Delivery ( 2 or 3 out of my 100 deliveries or so are from Rockauto everyday) asked a few customers about RockAuto all had good things to say.
I got turned onto them by reading Car Craft. They use Rock Auto quite often for sorcing parts, and you know what cheapskates they can be sometimes! (That's what I like about Car Craft, though!)
I work part time for one of the "big box" auto parts chains. Been there for 3 years, since I retired from my full time career. I've been working on my cars for something like 45 years, and bought a LOT of parts.
Unless it's an emergency, and I need something "right now", 9/10 I buy from Rock Auto. They have access to most anything you'll need, and even with shipping figured in, their prices are less that what I'd pay at the store where I work, even with my "employee discount".....
