Thanks for the input. No i'm not racing so ALUMINUM is out. I saw in Vette magazine an ad for Muskegon brake had 1967-82 stainless steel super kit complete bolt on brake job. $399.00 includes New master cylinder,4 stainless sleeved calipers,2 quarts silicone brake fluid,4 New Rubber Brake hoses,New copper inlet washers brake clips. and a few other things with exchange of rebuildable cores. dont look bad to me. May go ahead and do the rotors. Anyone delt with these guys?
Yes I work on cars. I put a 350 in a pontiac Fiero, but darn these vettes are tight. Took me 2 days to do spark pugs and wires.
Yes, I deal with Muskegon Brake as I live not too far from there and one of the techs is a neighbor of mine. They have excellent parts at competitive prices and will assist you with technical issues when you need them.
I have completely re-done my braking system (except for some lines) and used Muskegon Brake parts.

Good luck!
Thanks for the compliment! As always, let me know if you have questions.
Got off work today and pulled off the front tires and the brakes looked OK other than being a little rusty and the pads are pretty thick and brake pads feel. Open the master cylinder and the front reservoir is empty. This weekend I'm going to pull them off. I filled the front reservoir up and pumped the brakes to see if shows the leak. i know they will have to be Bleed. Will also try to check out the back brakes then. I guess i maybe calling Andrew. Haven't seen a better deal on brakes.
Andrew is the kit o ring or lip seal? if there is a choice, i think O ring is better and is the master cylinder made in the USA? Can I get Dot 5 fluid with the kit. Think i want to go with silicon. I dribbled brake fluid on the fender when i was filling the master cylinder. Trying to make it me proof.
My car just got the Muskegon brake job in a box treatment. I'm quite pleased. However, I've experienced one strange side effect: now, when I push on the pedal left of the go pedal, the car slows down. Crazy, I know.
As far as the Dot 5, Dot 4, or Dot 3 argument, you'll get 4,000 different opinions on the subject. I flushed with denatured alcohol and used the dot 5 that came with the brake kit. Gravity bled then pedal bled the system. Have a good solid pedal and the brakes work very well.

I have the kit with either lip seal ($399) or O-ring ($459). The new masters are cast offshore, assembled onshore. If you've spilled brake fluid on paint you already know one good reason to use DOT5, and it comes in the kit. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Andrew three boxes of parts came in pretty quick. I wanted to start putting the brake lines on the vette but the brake line clips did not come in on my order. Tried to call you today its Saturday but the company is closed on Sat and Sunday. Wanted to leave a message but your phone system wants your last name. I only have Andrew. I guess you can use this as customer feed back. I will give you a call monday.
Thanks Andrew I got all the break lines on everything fit great. After I rebuild the front suspension and rear suspension Ill install calipers. Thanks and nice talking to you about the suspension.

1. don't know where you can even find non stainless steel sleeved calipers. perhaps I am wrong, but always go with stainless steel sleeved calipers.
2. yes buy local, autozone won't milk you for a 'partial' core refund and you won't have to pay shipping. OK to get your lines/blocks/hoses from the specialty shops.
3. Standard hard lines fit better and seal in the softer metal blocks than stainless steel lines.
4. O-ring sealed caliper pistons cost more, but are engineered for better sealing when there is slight runout of the rotors that standard lip seals will not. O-rings are the best money I ever spent. it is a tradeoff as you might not find o-ring sealed calipers at autozone.
5. Brakes are one of the most heavilly posted subjects on this forum. do a search and read before you start your project.
6. beware of the mentality of 'my brakes go to the floor so I am going to replace everything'. you can save hundreds by fixing only what is broken.
7. Don't think that you have original brakes/rotors, they are most likely already stainless steel sleeved and replaced somewhere in your car's life.
