Bolted the trans to the motor yesterday. With the trans in place I bolted in the crossmember to see what kind of modifications I need to mate the two. With the trans mount removed and I was just able to get the crossmember in place. Seems that it is too high. So I notched the center of the crossmember. Just cut out a chunk, and flipped it 180, and welded it back in place.
Then came the scary part, cutting a hole for the shifter. I cut the hole quite large so I could use the rubber boot from the Camaro.
Almost four years, so good time for an update. I moved to Houston, had a kid, and been working on motorcycles instead of the Vette. Finally dusted it off over winter break. I finished up wiring the motor, got the fuel system plumbed, made custom power steering lines to fit the Lt1 and the hydroboost, installed jeep steering box, made my own sidepipe mufflers, rebuilt the hydroboost after it leaked on the first startup, installed sound deadning/reflectix, etc.
Drove it for the first time today. Feels good to have a running car. Long way to go though.
After test drive Little helper. Homemade spiral sidepipe mufflers. Two speedway augers per side. I'curious how the sound compares to STS.
life sure can get in the way,but in your case in a good way.glad you got back to the vette and best of luck.btw i completed my trailing arm rebuild and my car has been very reliable since.see it can happen.
