Default Door Panel Question

I was wondering if the arm pads that are on my door panels were an option or something the PO stuck on. My deluxe door panels are in good shape and I am planning on replacing the wood panels and carpet but I have not seen these before:

Thanks!

Aftermarket! Quick, cheap stick-on repair. High wear area and probably cracked underneath!

Cool thanks, I guess I will carefully pull them up to see what is underneath.

Leave well enough alone.

I had a pair of the patch panels in my '74.

You may do more damage by pulling them up. If they will clean up OK, I agree with the "leave them alone" strategy.

I ran out at lunch and took a peek, it looks like they are held on with 3M tape. The ends are starting to seperate so I wanted to know if these were replaceable. I think I will still pull them up and if what is underneath is bad, I will try to tighten up the ends and put them back on.

Yes you can replace them......I would probably use a hair dryer or heat gun to "warm" them up good before and while gently lifting them off.....
be sure a peek under as your doing it to make sure your not making things worse......

or park the car in the sun with the windows closed for a bit and heat up the insides. that will also make it a bit easier to remove them. i would go lightly on the heat gun method, if you choose to use something. i would use the hair blower before a heat gun.

On a real hot day mine started to slide somewhat.
Hard to say with your but just to throw it out there, I put mine on to protect the new door panels (probably not required but...) so underneath (and yes I've had them off a few times, hair-dryer works) it's not cracked.

So did your get put on to cover a problem (probably) or put on to prevent a problem (probably not) and the winner is ?????????

Oh, yeah it's just a double sided foam tape
