You should post this under the C3 "Parts for sale / parts wanted" - you may have better luck there. Good luck!

Just be careful to not buy any tires that have more than a few years on them...regardless of condition. Rubber (or synthetic rubber) tires age and break down with time, even if they are not used. If they have been stored in controlled environment and away from sunlight, that makes them more viable. But, old tires fail much quicker.

I know you want 'thin-line' tires, but raised white letter tires are much more available, and at reasonable prices. If you must have thin-line whitewalls, you might have to spend the money for a Coker or other remanufacturer, in order to get a good quality tire that is safe and will last.

P.S. Cooper tire does have a 225R70-15 tire with thin whitewalls for $127 each. Check out the following website:

I believe that they were bias ply tires and, sizewise, were similar to 195R70-15's. The '68s had 7" rims, instead of 8" rims on '69s and later. So, 225's might be too wide for you. I think maybe 205's would be as wide as you want to go on stock '68 rims.

If you move up to 8" rims, you can put up to 235 wide tires on your '68 without them rubbing on frame/body.

Do you want the white stripe because your car came with them from the factory? ie, it is listed on your tank sticker. I can see that on the tiny piece of tank sticker I have so I know my 68 originally came with white stripe. I prefer the look of the red stripe. The original tires were bias ply. The only way you can get the same looking/size tire is to buy the reproduction tire. Otherwise, I remember a while ago Michelin made a whitewall 225/70 15 but I doubt they still do. It is hard to find ANY tire in our size, let alone whitewall.

Hi

As little as I know, the original size tire is similar to a 215 .

There are companies that mold any color rings onto your tire.

My original spare 68 tire a GoodYear if I remember right.

Diamondback is an excellent company to deal with. I have purchased 3 sets of tires from them and they are great tires. For my 68 I bought 225-70-15 redlines. They will put anything you want on any tire, but their Michelins are very good tires.

Firestone or Goodyear bias-ply nylon F70-15s. Radials did not come out until 1973. The white stripe tires you want were optional (PT7) and set you back $31.80 in 1968.
