Default Headlight Question (Vacuum Circuit)

Hey, I am working on my corvettes headlights. The driver side headlight will go up 1/2 way then drop back down. The passenger headlight will not move.

When I pop the passenger headlight up manually, I can't push it back down if the car is off. It will go down automatically when I turn the car on.

I can push the driver side headlight up or down manually.

This is my question though. I notice the dust boots on the actuators are torn/have holes. Do these boots hold vacuum? Will I lose vacuum if they are torn?

I am still troubleshooting the rest of the system. I think the relay is fine on the driver side. Not sure about passenger side relay, or either of the actuators.

Thanks.

Unrelated question, but not worth starting a new thread for, how are the ttop bullet pins adjusted? My driver side ttop pin does not retract fully.

Those boots don't hold air but inside the boots are seals that do hold air. You can buy a kit to replace the boots and seals real cheap at www.willcoxcorvette.com They also have troubleshooting guides and diagrams on there website for free that will help you and explain everything.

Loosen the nut on the t-top pin, screw the pin down some and then tighten the nut back up. Very easy.
