It doesn't look like there is a GM dealership in Ireland that you could order parts through either - http://www.chevrolet.ie/
I realize there isn't an Autozone in Ireland, but that is who sells Duralast components. I couldn't find a rebuild kit on their website. What year is your car?
Do you know which diodes need to be replaced? You need to disassemble the alternator. You do NOT need to remove the pulley/nut, since you are not changing the bearings.
Remove the rear housing, disassemble components until you can get down to the detail diode parts. Once you get the connecting wires disconnected, you can use a simple ohmmeter to check the resistance of each diode, separately. Check resistance of a diode, then swap the probes and check it again (reverse polarity). If the diode is 'good', it will check with very low resistance in one direction and very high resistance in the other direction. A 'bad' result would be something "other" than those results; usually, it would check with high resistance in both directions [open circuit diode].
If you have NAPA stores in your country, you can order parts from them. If not, you can order parts from them (or other store) via the internet.
You need to purchase any individual diodes or the "triad" set (as needed, per your testing). You should also order a set of (graphite) brushes for that unit. To make a proper order, the model and/or part number of that alternator needs to be included so they can send you the correct parts.
You might also take your alternator to a local "starter & alternator repair shop". They may have the needed parts or be able to get them.
The "10 or 12 SI" designation is what you need when ordering repair parts. If you have access to the 'Victory' kit, fine. If not, see if generic parts for the SI alternators are available from another source.
I ordered a rebuild kit. But since I order the kit i've opened up the alternator and tested the diodes and they are fine also the brushes have plenty of life left.
Question is how do I test the voltage regulator and rectifier?
Think I made a bit of a mistake when ordering the kit: it does not include a new rectifier or capacitor
