Fiberglass or tru flex bumper where to buy.
The last time I had a C3 it was a 77 and I put fiberglass bumpers on it. Now I have an 80 and it need bumpers.
Where to get them and who has the best prices. I used Vanocor last time and they had great prices. But they don't seem to be around any more. Any alternatives to them.

TrueFlex has a black gel coat on it that is suppose to require less prep time plus help the paint match the car. Also its built with a flexible epoxy so it wont crack on minor impacts...however an idiot on a motorcylce isnt considered a minor impact.

No, I want to know this too. I would rather have a few scraps on the bottom of a bumper that I can't on a rigid bumper than have stress cracks that stretch up into sight.

My Truflex from Willcox should be in tomorrow.
From everything I've read , Truflex is the way to go. Although they both (Truflex and straight fiberglass) give a straighter finish than the stock eurethane bumper the Truflex will have that little bit of give needed if you bang your baby's nose off something where the fiberglass will crack much easier.
Either way , no two vettes are exactly the same and they will both most likely need some extra work in the fitting department where the eurethane is more forgiving.
I will let ya know how it goes when I get around to changing mine
Best of luck
Cheers

Melting Slicks
The downside of the Trueflex or fiberglass bumper covers is if you tap into something minor, it will transmit more of the impact energy to the car than the urethane bumper cover would. That usually means it'll cause more damage to the fenders or hood surround. Of course, one could argue that anything more than a minor impact would do the same with the urethane bumper too.
I personally started out with a trueflex, but later went to the new Ecklers urethane. Not very wavy, newer urethane technology. But still not as straight as a fiberglass bumper cover and more expensive by a wide margin. I think it's for someone who is more of a purist or wants to maintain originality. They all have their advantages/disadvantages. We are fortunate we have these options to select from.

For the 1980-1982 cars.. I always suggest the front in urethane and the rear in Truflex.
Why you might ask? The rear bumper covers 1974-1979 in Truflex are the best in the market place, they install easy and in my opinion fit! But the fronts for the 1980-1982 are a different story and very hard to install. 80 fronts are just hard to install, plus the shipping is by truck line so you want to get it right the first time.
If you use the link below it will take you to the forum special price on the bumper covers for your car. Use the current sale code and you'll receive an additional 10 percent discount which will put the rear at 265.00.

Thanks I will give you a call for the rear around Thursday of next week. I am going to wait on the front. I just ordered a bunch of interior parts from you guys and need to install them. Don't want to many projects at one time.
I am thinking on the front putting fiberglass and molding it in.
What would the shipping on the rear be to 11725.

Your whack looks repairable to me, but it will not be a touch up job. You'll have to sand it out then do regular paint prep.
