Default My 75 Vette Thread

Ok, so here goes another build thread guaranteed to stress out everyone here due to a lack of updates and progress, just like every other build thread. So, here we go :
This is my dad's 75 Vette. We are currently in the process of installing a new carpet set into the car, along with re-assembling the dash and drivers' door. Below, last weekend before we left for a local show :

That is my dad working with it there. He is also on here, WA4DBY. Today's work environment

This is one of the jobs that we will be doing today when we get back from church.

Carpet that is going in

Another interior shot

Seats

Something else we are doing today is to refurbish this panel

Lastly, the motor (complete with period correct valve covers)

There will another update today, hopefully with the rear of our interior completed.

How long has your dad owned this 75? Exterior looks to be in great condition. Good luck with your interior project.

He has owned the car for around 2 years. When he got it, the respray had just been completed. As for actual progress, it's mixed. I stripped the rear storage doors down (this is them before I did)

Anyway, this is them as of now

On to the rear carpet, we started fitting it but got tired and did not want to mess anything up. So, I'll try to get him out there tomorrow.

That's all for now.

Looks good. Just did the same thing myself. Not really too bad, if you take your time. Good luck.

Not as much progress as I would have hoped for, but it's still progress. One side of the rear carpet is now installed, so at least we now know how to do it.
What we glued it in with

Tomorrow, we'll be going at the other side, and hopefully finishing it off with the middle piece.

Does the 75 have no plenum drain tubes....

I don't see any in the pics but, maybe its just the angle of the pics or there aren't any on that model?

I'm just guessing from the pics that may be the source of some of the issues in the "truck" of the car, the water from the plenum drains straight inside and runs down soaking the carpet and the hinges on the doors until it finally settles and drains out the storage compartment....

You will see the same kinds of issues in the future if these are not replaced.........

It shows them as available from Zip for a 75,, so I will assume yours need replaced......

this is a picture from the outside......behind the tire in the fender well.....this is where the water from the Grilles behind the back glass is supposed to drain

NOT inside the car.

This is the repair solution I had.....didn't want to rivet it.. ALL Stainless Steel I used a small grinding wheel and ground off the rivets that were holding the fender drain piece in place....then replaced them with the Panhead screws. From Lowes.......

You aren't going with any sound deadner or heat shield? You might as well throw it in there while you have the carpet out. JMHO

I'm sorry that I haven't been on here in a while, but I've had a lot going on. For starters, to get an actual shop to work in built, we have had to tear down and rebuild a shed that was where the shop needs to go. Myself, I have began to restore my great grandpa's farm truck, and had to spend some time getting the replacement cab removed fron the 2 1/2 ton grain truck used by my grandpa. Anyway, this build has actually gotton some attention in the last two weeks, so I came back to post it.
This is the car as of today:

For some reason, the radio had blown a fuse, so we went ahead and replaced it. we now have a working stereo!

The back carpet was about the same as the last time you guys saw it, so I glued down the passengers side. Since the trim had been painted, I went ahead and installed it.

As you can see, it came out nice. Now, I need to install the center piece of carpet in the rear, and finish the storage doors. Also, I need to install the drivers side carpet. This would get it to a point where we could at least get some seats in it and drive it. So, that's all for now.

Ok, I need to take some more photos, but the car does have all of the carpet installed in it now, along with both seats. This was just in time for a parasitic battery drain issue to appear. So, something else on the long to do list.

Same here. In my e30, the carpet has a large piece of foam molded to the floorpan glued to the carpet. Makes putting it in very easy.

I took some photos today when beginning the fin of solving the battery drain issue. Progress wise, we now have both seats, belts, and carpeting in the car, all in time for multiple wiring issues to appear. Wiring wise, the DIR SIG Back Up, Flasher, and Gauge cluster fuses now all blow. We are currently trying to track down various shorts in the system. Just the type of fun we wanted to have.

As you can see, there are still vacuum issues

That's it for now. Hopefully, I can solve some of the wiring issues tomorrow.

Well, it's been a while since I've been on here. However, I caught a lucky break and got the turn signals fixed. So, tomorrow more interior parts are getting painted.
