I recently did a walk around to try and capture some footage of the car just after the first drive, The car is a totally different car than it used to be, The car is an animal, and once the car is completely tuned it should be something to be proud of.
I sent the ECU back out to the tuner so he could make some adjustments on it in the security sections that control the injector circuit and a few other tweaks to make the car suitable for the next few weeks while I put some miles on it to break in the transmission and work out a few bugs, then I will take it to a chassis dyno.
Riggs, job well done. Man that sounds tuff. I have said it before, your car looks great. Something about that white color and the stance are dead on...
Kudos on the 4 brake light set up.... I like it.
What all did you have to do to drop the ls2 into the car? I've been thinking of upgrading the motor in my 06 and possibly putting the entire drivetrain into my 80.
Thanks guy's, the video doesn't really do the car any justice, it really does sound great in person. I had some problems with the idling and a check engine light the same day the video was taken, the car was sounding real weird, until you would rev it, to clear it out, then it was fine for a view minutes. Even though it is far from being tuned right, the LS has a ton of torque and horse power and is a blast to drive.
Dngnhack,
there are a few threads running right now that would give you a great deal of insight on the LS swaps, here is a few,
I was just looking at your video and was wondering how you fit in your car now that it is 6 feet long and 3.5 feet wide? That must have been some chopping on the body to achieve the look.
Awesome man. Sounds Great. Wish mine was a little further along. The LS motors do sound good in these C3 cars. Need more video of it rolling down the road.
Thanks Guys, I do have plans to make a better video just as soon as the tunning is done.
I pick up a new GoPro Hero2 and I am still trying to figure out how to get the better quality footage, some of the videos I shot over the weekend act as if they skip, at times, you wished they didn't, I am still trying to figure it out.
Very nice. I wish I had the time, dollars, and talent to do that.
Tell me about the four tail light conversion. I have done it on a 1979 and it was fairly simple. But the 1974 has one-year only one-piece pods rather than backing plates with screw-on lenses. So it is not a simple matter of putting on red lenses and a 1157 pigtail/bulbs instead of 1156 for the back up lamps. Those pods attach to steel bumper backing plates and the tail lights are very different from the back-up pods where they attach. Appreciate your comments.
Paul I wish I had the info you were looking for but the PO did that tail light conversion. From what I can tell, he spliced into the harness to duplicate the light again on each side, and as far as mounting, I think he had just re drilled some mounting holes and thru bolted them from the back. I haven't looked at it that close, this is just my guess.
