I have a 68 and a 70. I know that one has a "push-in" speedo cable to attach to the speedometer, and the other has a "screw-in" to attach to the speedometer. Actually, the for the push-in there's a clip on the speedo housing to hold it in place. I ordered a speedo cable for the 70 and it's a screw in. I ordered a TKO 600 tranny for the 68 and they supplied me with a screw in speedometer cable. I asked them to send me a push-in speedo cable which I believe were standard on the C2's. The guy that's going to install the TKO-600 thinks I have it backward. He thinks the 68 has a screw in speedo cable, and the 69 and up's have a push-in cable. One of us is having a brain anomaly. Actually, I ordered the tranny from Keisler and there guy also thinks I need a screw-in. Anyhow to placate me, Keisler has a C2 clip in speedo cable in the mail to me.
I'd like to resolve this since changing the speedo cable into the speedo unit behind the dash is just not a fun thing to do. Want to have it right before I start. 68 Guys????
All speedo's were screw on from 1953 up till 1968.
In 1969 GM changed the series on the speedometer and tachometer heads to the clip retaining design. If they sent you a screw on cable it will work just fine.

Be aware that even though Willcox website states the tach head is for '68-'71, what I received drop shipped from Corvette America, was the '68 screw on type. 280 bucks, plus shipping, for a part that will not fit my '69 with the clip-on cable. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
If you received an OEM 68 tach, you should be able to get your money back plus some on resale. I'd think this part is relatively rare. To get a tach rebuilt, some restorers want a lot more than the money you paid for this tach. I'd think a 68 owner would be happy to buy this at the price you paid for it.

Oops!!! 6500 rpm redline???????? This is a really rare tach I think. This was for a high performance engine option. I'm sure you can get your money back. I'm not sure, but I think I was quoted $500 to restore a speedo for a 70.
