Default 1975 Blinker and Brake problem

Just noticed that when I step on my brakes both turn signal indicators on the dash light up. When I try to use the turn signals, neither signal works inside or out. I haven't checked the fuse yet, but I am thinking it is blown. But why would both turn signal indicators light up on the dash when I step on the brake??? Thanks for your help in this matter.

I am not much of a mechanic. What do you mean by check the ground... the ground on the battery?

I think that's what he is referring to. Clean the battery connections at the terminals and make sure they are tight....then the ground to the frame.....on the C3 corvettes lots of problems occur from faulty ground. Take the ground loose and either use a wire brush or grinding wheel to get it to bare metal, clean the cable mount as well........ this may or may not help with your problem....but, it certainly won't hurt. I like to use a battery connection sealer after cleaning the terminals and you can use a shot of primer to cover the bare metal on your frame ground....so it doesn't start rusting.

I just had that problem on my '74. Mine turned out to be caused by the hazzard warning flasher SWITCH was not pulled all the way out. When I pulled it out, everything started to work normally.

my 76 ray, thanks for the info. The hazzard warning flasher switch was pulled half way out. The last couple to test drive it messed with just about everything they could. Thanks to all for your input.
