What are people using to glue the carpet to the floor if anything. Putting in a new carpet while the interior is out while doing the LS3 swap. At the point of getting it back. I have Cool Mat down on the floor for sound and some insulation so it is foil backed so that is what the carpet will be on.
I didn't glue mine down......it's such a pain to get it back up....it doesn't move anyway...but, mine is the original and is very well molded to the shape of the floor boards and other contours.

Hi,
I used very little glue on the carpet also.
I think it's best held in place by the seats, console, and trim panels.
On my 71 the rear wheels wells had some glue on them, but that's the only place.
Regards,
Alan
Agree, you probably don't need much adheasive, but a little 3M Super 77 spray on both surface sides in the corners probably wouldn't hurt, because of the slick foil face sound material. Not sure of the Weldwood contact cement though, as tends to dry out and crust up over time.

thats what i use ...there are two different types....one is repositionable the other is not. so for areas that you can get right the first time you can use the permanent one. mostly i used the repositionable one
In my honest opinion, the 5 dollar a tub carpet adhesive from Lowes/HD/etc. works very well. Easy to apply where you want it and in the quantity you want it; has a long work time, and gets VERY tacky/sticky after about a day.
Why on Earth would you want to glue down the carpet? Why don't you weld your valve covers on while your at it. Say, that might not be a bad idea, it would sure keep 'em from leaking........
I've used 3M Spray Adhesive and Loctite Carpet adhesive with good success. The loctite worked better for me, but there was a 5-10 year gap and my "car skills" had leveled up a lot so that may account for it.
Thanks for all the replies. The carpet near the forward hump and foot wells is what I am worried about. Just don't want the bunching and or movement up front.
