The under dash interior lights on my car were just hanging there when I bought the car. I have the dash out and was wondering where they attach to and how. This on an 80.
Two little 90 degree brackets mounted to the area above the kick panel. One of mine was missing too. I just bought some light weight aluminum and made my own.
Shine a light up under your dash with the interior lights off. I'll bet you find the brackets where the lights should clip in. You'll probably have to pull the bulbs to get the sockets re-seated.

I had the dash out and didn't see anything. Just the light hanging.
The passenger side courtesy light should attach to a 90 degree bracket with a slot in it mounted on the kick panel directly below the glove box.
The driver's side you have to be a bit of a contortionist to get to.Just above the **** to manually work your headlights slightly to the left. From under the dash you will find another of these little "slots" molded into the dash assembly. This is where the tabs on the courtesy light assembly clip in to.
