My Girlfriend just got her hands on a 1975 vette that was given to her in a divorce settlement and being hidden from her for the last 15 months..long story..anyhow when returned they had the 4 speed trans out and the motor sitting there stripped bare with no carb and some parts in the passengers side in a box (alt,P/S pump, waterpump and pulleys) the car only has 25,000 original miles on it....does anyone know where I can find exploded diagrams for the engine and trans so I can attempt to put this thing back together...thanks for any info
There is a lot of information here on the Corvette Forum. If you use the SEARCH function you can find a lot of information for your questions. The most probable response will be to get a AIM- Assembly Instruction Manual for your car. Be more specific for each question and you will be surprised at the depth of information available.
if she took his vette, what do you think she'll do to you after you've done all that work?
well I would worry about that if the circumstances were different, but he got a court settlement for 128,000 and left her and his kid for the philippine and got remarried there and had 2 more kids..he isn't a very good guy..but hey before you reply to this I will answer...I know every relationship has 2 sides..but the word is he was a real dick
anyhow..being a car nut it's going to be fun putting this back together
I'd take a good hard look at the engine. If whomever he is spent that much time to do that much gamage to it beck of the turnover, there may be some hidden problems. Over torque the bottom end maybe. After all the work to get it back together then have it nuke on you.
Funny what that final "failure to comply with a court" order will turn up.

A '75 with 25,000 original miles? Step one - marry the girl.
Just kidding, kind of.
Seriously though good luck with both girls and will be watching....I have a feeling this Corvette soap opera is not over.
Sell the car and parts for $2500 or best offer and call it a day. No matter how much her ex told her the car was worth, it isn't worth anywhere close to what she thinks it is. You'll spend more money getting it running and safe to drive then it's worth.
Put it back together as a factory-original car. It will be worth more that way and it won't cost an arm and a leg to get it running. Then, the two of you can enjoy it. Heck, if she really doesn't want the car for herself, maybe she will sell it to you "as is" for about $2500-3000?
