Tossed the ONLY set of keys we have to a Trans Am a buddy and I are working on......heard a little tinkle, clink, tumble, clunk....the keys had gone down the defroster vent and disappeared into the dark abyss of the dasterdly dash. OMG I could'nt believe it......took me about 30 minutes fishing with a little magnet on a wire to retrieve them... Lesson learned
Don't throw the keys on the dash they may disappear forever!
Working on a C96 oilfield single cylinder engine....shimming the rod bearings....from the back side of the engine....pulled the rod cap... slid back the piston and heard a snap sound......the oil ring is now out of the cylinder and with me inside the crankcase.......I can't get it out the back and it has to go back in the cylinder....
Took me over 2 hours to finally get a piece of baling wire just perfectly around the ring to get it compressed enough to shove the cylinder forward and get the ring back in the cylinder, (this piston is about the size of a basketball).......gezzz.. Note to self..........be very, very careful when shimming rod bearings about pulling the piston back toooooo far!!!
