I really don’t want to start a war but I got to ask why would anyone want to park their corvette in a field or parking lot all day? There is a big (well big for Maine) car show I went once years ago the people I saw were “Look at me I have a better car then you”
To hang out with other car enthusiasts, admire different rides, get some sun, etc. I generally prefer cruise-ins or all-make shows to very focused types of gatherings...variety is the spice of life.

Especially on the all-make shows. I only go to one or two a year, and it's more to support my wife's charity work (of which, they are the recipients) than to say "look at me". I much prefer to be on the open road on my well deserved day's off also.

I prefer to just take my car out for a drive, if someone says nice car I just say thanks. I have to laugh when I have my ugly car a 88 Mustang 4 banger convertible out when someone says I love your car. Hey maybe I should enter my mustang next year??
If it's more of a fun driver, not such a big deal but I can't believe people do that with cars worth more than most houses.
Two weeks ago I went to the Indy 500 practice and they were also having the best car show I'd ever attended. Everything from the early 1900s and up. None were roped off and 99% of the owners were nowhere to be found. Some of the cars had to be worth hundreds of thousands $$$ and people are brushing up against them, leaning on them to get pictures taken, getting inside to take pictures and letting their Ritalin kids run around. Also storms were predicted and clouds were rolling in and probably half the cars had no tops.
Only exceptions were the clubs that gathered there such as the Corvair and DeLorean guys. They stayed by their cars and were great to talk to. Now I sorta want a DeLorean...as long it has a real engine transplanted into it.
I tend to like to go to shows that have a 20 year or older rule.
Nothing turns me off more that seeing some brand new Corvette,Camaro, challenger, etc that the only thing the owner did to it was polish it and fill it with gas.
If i want to see that i can go to the dealership and drive one myself.
I kind of like it when guys do a restoration and have a bunch of pictures in a book for people to look at. As long as they aren't promoting anything, ..just sort of, if you want to look, here are some pictures..
