1971 transmission numbers
Hi, does anyone know where on the transmission I can find the transmission numbers to see if it matches my car? The engine matches and since Iam under the car I would like to know if everything matches...thanks

On a TH400 the codes are stamped on an identification plate located on the passenger's side vertical surface of the trans case. This plate has the Turbo Hydra-matic logo screened in yellow with the two-letter broadcast code of the trans.
The production code number contains the model year, model identification and production date.
ex 70K372
70=model year
K= 350 ci, S=454ci (LS5), Y= 454ci (1971 LS6)
372=372nd day (Jan 7, 1970)
Days were counted for 1970 starting with the 1st day in 1969 through the last day in 1970.
For 1971 days were counted from the first day of 1970 through the last day of 1971 and in 72 the 1st day of 71 through the last day of 72.
The production code number contains the model year, model identification and production date.
