Got a question, I replaced the a/c heater control panel in the my console. Everything hooked up well, new compressor, drier, fan switch, etc.... I have noticed that the control panel will not cut off the system. Any thoughts on this?
There are two "spring switches" on the side of that control head. Those have to be properly 'timed' with the action of the selector wheel. If the switches do not 'make' or 'break' at the right spots on the display plate (or at all), they need to be adjusted so that they do. I think that's where you have your problem.
I had a similar problem and noticed it before I put the switch back in. As best as I can explain it,as 7T1 said, you will have to move ("adjust") the position of the switch so that the points open and close correctly with the action of the selector wheel. While one screw hole is enlarged, it still didn't give me enough flexability. I had to enlarge one of the 2 screw holes to give me more flexability to move the switch. Even after doing so, it does not still work 100% correctly but I am leaving it instead of trying to make it better and have it probably worse. On mine now, if I go from "Off" to "Max AC," the points don't break but if I go to the next position down and then back up to "Max," they break correctly. Not a big deal so like I said I'm leaving it knowing I know how to make it work. These are the only photos I seem to have of the Points.
