This keeps happening to me over and over. Barely made it home after I got stuck in some sudden rain.
I haven't touched my wipers since I bought the car, but they seemed to have only recently developed this problem of smacking into each other and getting stuck.
Below you'll see the factory adjustment procedure. Follow these steps and if they still bind you either have a bent wiper arm, bent transmission arm, the wrong arms, wrong blades or a faulty transmission.

Same issue for me after full adjustments made. Wiper arms and blades replaced as were also wrong. Found it was a combo of worn transmission linkages leading to excess play, and bad glass beneath the transmission mount allowing it to move/flex. End result is the wipers catching each other occasionally.
Please note.. the instructions above are for 73-82. 68-72 can be found on the web site under the Repair and Install help Section.
You can make tweak adjustments to the transmission levers if needed. NOT advised thought. I have plenty of used original transmissions if this ever becomes an issue.
One thought on this in closing. The center section where it connect's to the bellcrank on the wiper motor should be well lubricated.

Greetings from Long Branch NJ Americas first seashore resort and 7 time US summer capital....same thing happened to my 70 ....only one of my blades actually snapped off ....I was lucky enough to stop by a friends house where he installed a slightly shorter arm until he could make the proper adjustment with a new arm.

This is my problem, I can't adjust the transmission linkages, they are as tight as the bolts get but they woble all over.
My temporary fix until I get around to replacing it, was to simply unhook the passenger side blade.
I generally avoid the rain, but in FL it can crop up whenever, and I don't want to get caught on the road with no wipers.
Missed that... all passenger side blades are on top 68-82
Mine has been on the bottom. Could be a problem. I also measured my wipers, they're correct, but they are way out of alignment, going about 2 inchs off the windshield. Tomorrow's project I suppose.
