My temp gauge starting to have a "jitter" problem. Once the engine warms up, the needle starts to jump and won't stabalize at a temp, like a nervous tic! Just bounces around below the 210 mark, usually the lower side. Engine never seemed to get to 210 always runs 190-200.
Is this the sending unit or gauge or both? How hard to replace either? I have the new sensor replacement parts.
ALSO, oil pressure always high, how hard to replace sending unit to gauge?
Thanks all.....and the 68 is listed forsale, just letting you know, just in case.
You have a bad wire between sender and gauge. It is most likely a frayed connection at the sender terminal; but could be a broken wire inside the insulation. It is doubtful that anything inside the firewall is causing your problem.
The '68 car did not have an oil sending unit; the gauge is a Bourdon tube type mechanism...mechanical gauge.
