Default HeadLight Adjustment Clarification Help

I am trying to adjust the headlights according to the AIM. With that said, here is what I am referring to:

Questions regarding this statement as follows:
1) What is considered the "forward end of slot"?
2) What is meant by "adjust actuator rod clevis to touch condition"?

It states to make this adjustment with headlamp in open position. Do I make these adjustments with the springs on or off? Where I am having problems is that when I open the headlight completely, it is locked in position. I also noticed that the bracket with the three bolts attached can be slid forward or back toward actuator, which position should it be in?

Thanks,

Andy

Take a look. The clevis pin fits into a slot.

Turn the clevis until the pin touches the forward end of the slot. Essentially no slack.

Which bracket? A pic would help.

Default slot

So this position would be considered the forward end?

Im assuming I have to take the clevis out, adjust and reinsert.

This is the bracket I am referring to:

The large springs attach to it. Should it be positioned all the way back or toward the front? There seems to be about a 1/2inch of adjustment that can be made forward or back.
