First car is definitely a hatchback Pinto. Almost looks like they borrowed the giant glass hatch right off a Pinto. Interesting...I guess it could have been cool back in the day.
Second car looks great in any time period. First thought was Vega but more Pontiac Astre due to the tail lights.
All the primer one's are the same car in different stages. It belong to a very talented body man that hand molded the fat fender as he called them and made molds for them in the early 80's. Theres posibly more race cars out there with this fat fenders than there are street cars. He made I think 5 cars total and sold many kit for others to install. Thats how the red one came to be.
This 69 conv. What his also, He sold to a friend of mine then he sold it. I would really like to buy this convertible if still out there. Small pic, Far away.
This Blue one is a 69. He maid the rear molds off this car and the fronts of his on personal car the primer one.
I own whats left of the Blue 69.
Parts and pieces.
The Black car was a Master Piece , Had to see to believe it. IMHO Its what they should have looked like from the factory ( Fat fender wise) But it would have been to radical for 1968. In stead of the shear drop from the peak of the fender out, It was in more uniform with the peak of the fender in towards hood.

Wow, I do like these "fat fenders" a lot better than the flares. When I first saw it I knew it looked different I just couldn't tell what was different which is just what I like! A stock appearance or something that makes someone do a double take and question if it is stock or not.
So what with your blue "fat fendered" car? Is it on the road or under construction right now?

I wish they made some reproductions of these.
Thats exactly right, You had to look twice.
For the time being the Blue car sits in storage.
I tried chasing down the molds but couldn't find them. The guy that made the fat fenders close down shop. I know a guy that has a set of the panels since the 80's, Has never driven his 72 or install the panels, I tried buying them from him but no way. The idea was that if I could get those original fat fender kit I would make molds and make parts, But I think the days of guys customizing there C3 body's that mush are over, more of a vintage race car thing. It went out with the 80's.
But I bought another car with the fat fenders but the PO pulled the rears out even further than the original intention and made other mods that I have to change.
These are the best looking fenders I've ever seen! Even the wife agrees, it gives the car so much more attitude. She really likes the black car too. Maybe next year I'll try to make a set. I'm pretty sure I have to have these!

You sir have opened a can of worms...please post more pics vs. just these teaser pics of both your fat fendered rides. Very interesting indeed and this pic here looks to be really impressive how tight the gap between the fender & tire is.
really good job keeping the lines looking so natural squeezing in back to original door width and then buldging back out.
The only part I don't like about this is the Mustang style B/C pillar air scoop The rest I like including the center exit exhaust But I love to see more pics of the fat fenders

It adds to the beautiful curves the car already has.

Kaos, First I have to say Im honored that you like them cause your car is famous and absolutely beautiful.
Understand that the black primer car is sitting on rolling cart and Ive just stuck tires in the opening for motivation while Im restoring the chassi. Ill tell you one problem with them is wheel and tire size and posible spacers and strain on bearings, I dont think since theres not many of these fenders that they've push the envolpe of wheel size. I would say you easy'ly put 11inch fronts 13 rears. I go to Miami / kendall every christmas, would like to pay you a visit and say hello and see Kaos in person.
Those fat fenders are Bad Azz looking, I would love to see more photo's of these, do you have a build thread going, if so I would like to have the link.

Esierra...sure we meet up to say hello and go for a spin in Kaos. Thanks for the compliments. I have another guy in NJ that will be down around that time also that I have been promising him a ride too. I will PM ya my contact details.
Mayan...those are some really nice flares indeed however they are not "fat fenders" which Esierra has on his ride as they are really different and not the same as flares although I do like those flares a LOT . Now if I had a coupe then having that split window 63 style back window would certainly be one of the tops on my to-do-list. Thanks for posting that pic fo the 63 split window...really nice job there.
