I respect anyone that puts effort into saving any make or model of American car.
The imports - ehh. Whatever.

Boy... that's hits the nail right on the head.
Back in the early 80's I would wave at all of the Trans Am and Camero owners. Just my way of rubbing their faces in it. Vette owners back then used to call those "other" vehicles "HALFWAY CARS". Half the price, half the women, half the way. Now if I were to see an 80's era T.A. or camero, I'd wave out of respect. Funny how time changes our attitudes.
Took my 79 out on a 40 mile drive around the block last Sunday. I waved and got waved to in reply from a 1955 red Chevy, an MGB, a 69 Camaro, and the only other Vette I saw that day, a black C-6.
I give a hand sign, or a wave for all vettes I pass on the road. I also give a thumbs up whenever I see a nice muscle car coming toward me. Its a sign of recognition or respect.
Everyone talks about C5/6 owners not waving. I get enthusiastic waves from those folks. It's the C4s that don't wave... Of course, they have Vette envy, so I can see that.
I don't mean to rag on C5-C6 owners, but they don't return the wave like C1,C2,C3's do. The other morning I made a point of slowing up (yeah, slowing up) to wave at a C6 on the freeway and he wouldn't even glance over. Then I waved again as I pulled past him, but nothing. I guess it was because it was just some old guy in an old car. I have grey hair and I was in my '63 coupe. I really had a hard time not making it a one-finger wave, but I didn't.
Had my 71 LT-1 out yesterday and got a big out the window wave from a guy in a new Mustang with what sounded like a very high HP engine. It made me smile for a long time. Ed
Am I glad to see this thread. I exchanged waves with a nice red GTO yesterday while cruising through the neighborhood . . . thought I may have crossed the boundries.

i guess i cross ALL bounderies then!,..i'm in a 911,...and i "wave" at corvette owners,..and often, get waved at back,...as an acknowledgement of these 2 cars storied lineage,...often rivals, yes,..but also each has made the other better as competitors,...and my next car is going to be a zr1,..so, i'm starting my "vette wavin" early!
Driving today in traffic and see a motorcycle coming up on my left and stays beside me, sort of ignored it, when I here it give a couple of extra revs, look over and there is a young rider giving me the thumbs up/smile and away he goes.
I recently moved from Florida to Alabama. In Florida like vehicles waved to my Vette and Jeep. Haven't seen that in Alabama.
Dad taught me the wave in his 95. Now that I have a 80 , I give the wave to all vetted and muscle cars. Just seems the right thing to do.
P.s.mobile Alabama. Here.
I was going down the freeway in AZ the other day in my 79 and got a thumbs up and a wave from a teenager hanging out of the window of his friends Honda civic. I even waved back

I do notice that a lot of c6 owners don't wave. I think they are too busy looking at themselves in the rear view mirror. Just sayin

We will make you feel welcome, And salute your ride.
That is not normal in the Great state of Alabama. All vettes are cool!
