Default LS6 carb identification

Is a 3986196, List -4802-1, 2559 date code the right carb for a 454 425hp 1971 corvette? The 2559 should be Sept 1969, Right? What else would this have been on? Or was this built early and used later? Thanks for any help. Ron B.

Ron, that would be a service replacement. Holley went from the 3-digit date code over to the 4-digit date code in '73. Probably built in '79.

Same part number and list number came on a '71 Chevelle. The date code could be 1979 or 89 or 99.

Thanks for the info, just basically another old holley. It does run good, thought it might have so value to someone with the right car. Ron B.

Also, that carb number was intended for an automatic transmission car. The carb for a manual tranny car was a 3986195.
