I have a 1970 convertible. I have an antenna cable that runs to the back and is then cut off. I believe the PO must have glassed over the hole and removed the antenna. Recently got a new radio and with this set up get worse reception than with the last one. Wondering if anyone has figured a way to get reception with out the exterior mast portion of the antenna or if you had to add the mast how you did it and where you located an aftermarket mast that fit the curves of the car and looked like it belonged there. Thanks in advance....
There are ones that run up your one of your pillars and then sit behind the rear view mirror. Not the prettiest, but I hear they get great reception. You can search for them online.
You can add the stock antenna. AIM shows the install. You will probably see the original hole on the under side of the fender if the PO filled it. The aftermarket providers carry the antennas and hardware.
My widebody vette had no visible antenna and I often wondered how I was getting such good reception. Upon a closer look I realized the PO had taken antenna and laid it on frame rail- rocker area and strapped it down there. He glassed the hole in when he put the wide body kit on. I guess I will leave it, reception has always been good for me going on 18 years now.

I used the same electric antenna in the photos and ran the wire under the dash pad up the passenger windshield pillar molding and across the windshield mounting it behind the rear view mirror. It really isn't that noticeable unless you're looking for it and it works great, well when I happen to want music over the sidepipes come to think of it I don't remember how to turn the stereo on so I'll call it a $300 clock
